I know you're not suppose to tamper with a classic but there are 3 scenes I would like to shorten or just cut out completely.
the opening of redford playing cards, it really doesnt add anything to the movie.
the scene of them in NYC and on the steamer going to bolivia.wow that seems to go on forever,(are the stills suppose to symbolize postcards??) Id cut it down to 30 sec at the most, there is just no reason for it to go on like that.
the 'raindrops' song with them on the bike.????. there is no reason for that scene or that song. -

I would keep the opening scene it shows they are wise guys who would prefer to talk themselves out of trouble if possible. They are smarter than the usual bandit.
The Cruise to Bolivia I would cut that montage as well and maybe actually explain how long it took and some other information that would be more interesting to the story. Like the year maybe.
The bike ride I think is supposed to show that there is some affection between them but it could have been done in a less hokey way.
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.
