I have to agree. There are many great westerns (Wild Bunch, Searchers, Shootist, etc.) but this is by far the best of them all. So many classic lines, the wonderful score, amazing acting and cinematography, and revolutionary revisionism of a tired genre (even in 1969) make it my favorite.

I prefer a lot of Westerns o er this. "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly," Unforgiven," "Tombstone," hell even the remakes of "3:10 to Yuma" and "True Grit"i prefer to this. I find this movie to be very uneven.

This wouldn't even be in my Top 100 Westerns list (and I made such a list about 5 or 6 years ago).
There are so many great Westerns that have been made from 1939 (Stagecoach, the beginning of the great Western era) to the present that even attempting to put Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid among them is foolish. -

There are too many cringe worthy scenes . " raindrops / bike " scene for starters . The good , bad and ugly is the best . All of leone " dollars trilogy , once upon time in west , 310 Yuma , true grit ( remake ) magnificent seven .
