Everything is running in different directions, the world is breeding crazies, and all the media seems able to do is add paranoia and misinformation to the mix.
I don't want the media (whether liberal or conservative) to TELL me what to think. I want it to tell me what's going on and let me make up my own mind. At the same time, the media is even more cynical than it was at the time this movie was made.
I once worked as an unpaid news intern for a network affiliate, going out to cover stories with a cameraman and gathering information until the "reporter" showed up, took my notes, and then did his/her "story" standup. I said, at the time, that the most cynical people I have ever met in my life were news cameramen! -

The media is going to do whatever it wants to get eyeballs on it's product (so they can make money). Thinking otherwise is foolish.
You'll have to sift through what's available to see if anyone is offering anything of value . . . . or do what I do: ignore the media and live your own (entirely local) life. -

I just watched this tonight and given our sociopolitical climate, the whole film was so unsettling to me. I felt as if some awful explosion of violence was about to erupt in just about every scene, as though everybody was acting on the very cusp of something extreme. Then it culminates into the superbly executed finale. I'm not sure if I'd attribute the feeling to the current global unrest, or the hyper editing, but it worked.
