The writing on the water tower said, "CRAZY ANNIE LOVES JOE BUCK"
Was Annie supposedly mentally incompetent? If she wrote the sign, why would she call herself crazy? Did Joe take advantage of a mentally challenged woman or did Joe make her crazy?
In many of the flashbacks, Joe and Annie were obviously having sex. What was the gang doing to Joe? Sodomy as punishment for having sex with Annie, or for some other reason? Why did Annie go away in what appeared to be an ambulance?
