It isn't The Light at the Edge of the World. I thought since it was from a Jules Verne story it might have a sea monster in it.
Doesn't look like it's Eric the Viking either, although it does have a sea monster.
At least I found two more movies that were possibilities, although neither matched the new (circa 2015) info. -
