Finally!!! In a recent top 50 horror ranking I ranked it at #10. Bizarre that a gorgeous looking proto-slasher horror film rated 7.1 on IMDB took this long to get a watchable release. Those PD versions may be widescreen but are so heavily pixelated. I hope it is a version containing every single available scene, even if it has to flip through different sources.

I just started it and quickly came to the boards to see what version I'm watching and this is great news to read. I guess I"ll hold off on watching it then.

The upcoming Blu-ray from Scream Factory will have two versions, a HD version that runs 94 minutes, and a complete 104 minute version that is mainly HD, but which will have inserts from a standard-def European print source.
Even with the inserts being standard def, I recommend the longer cut as the best one to watch. It should contain all of the footage from both the US and Spanish theatrical versions.

I found a Shout! Factory blu-ray being released in December on Amazon, is that the one you're referring to? There are several reviews (from the DVD release) already linked to it, confusingly, but the Blu-ray is definitely not out until December, as you said.

Yes, the Scream Factory release on December 27th, 2016, will be the first release of the film in the Blu-ray format, anywhere in the world. The reviews currently posted on Amazon refer to poor quality US DVD and DVD-R releases from the past.
I'm sure that Scream's Blu-ray will be the definitive presentation of the film.

I hope this Blu ray will sport a nice 2.35:1 w/s transfer. Whether it is anamorphic or not I really couldn't care.

                It is 2:35-1 anamorphic.

The blu ray looks amazing! Even the longer cut looks great with a little lower resolution during the inserts but still looks great. Both versions are on one disc at very high bit rates for little or no compression problems. If you are a fan and have a blu ray player this is a must have!

I bought the Blu-ray yesterday; have to give it a watch. I've only seen the cut version, which I still thought was fantastic.

                        Tomorrow I'm ordering
                        2
copies of the Scream Factory Blu ray! (I'm a hard-core collector)

And I've just ordered them literally a minute ago. I also have
                          2
of the original Australian vhs under the "Film & cable sales".-used by the old bootlegger companies. My collection just grows and grows
