    I agree.
You definately have to watch the movie from the begining.
    Brilliant.

I love Depalma, watched the entire movie & still thought there was no point. It didn't make sense.
Don't wander into abandoned churches for Czakyr will grab you from underneath the watery grave.

I think the "Be Black Baby" part was incredible
but I do agree that taking the woman's clothes off was a bit too far
simply because that women wouldnt have ended up enjoying the "play"
            as it were
she'd have run to the cops the minute they were out the door
            the real cops, that is
if you're the salt of the earth, then the earth is a slug

I think the whole point about the Be Black segment was that they took it way too far. It wasn't even clever or smart anymore, they were just downright violating the girl! And yet when it's over, all the witnesses rave over it and say they'll "tell all their friends". It's just absurd. I was pretty freaked out when they started to take off the girl's clothing too, but I just reminded myself that Robert Deniro's character would be interrupting them at any moment. This movie was made at a time when black people were demanding equal rights to white people (rightfully so), and this movie was just making fun, showing this group of people who take it way too far.
I get the feeling you're violating somebody's basic human rights here

do you think there is a requisite "person you are supposed to sympathize with" character in every film, or every story? never heard of gray areas? you must watch a lot of things like sitcoms with pre-recorded audiences that tell you "this is the funny part - laugh!" or "this is the awww! moment"

I understand your point and rape is a disgusting act of vulgarity but I think you are missing the point of this scene. The whole "Be Black Baby" play was supposed to show outrageous behavior by the actors, to a point where it crossed the line. Then after the play, the people attending were raving about how good it was and how they would tell all their friends they need to see or be a part of this play. Despite the woman being unclothed, their personal treatment, and that one guy getting beat to a pulp it shows that the patrons did not get the point of "being black" (the point of the play).

Maybe you should stick to more conventional movies.
