    evbatboy — 16 years ago(August 13, 2009 11:22 AM)

Lt. Colonel Henry Blake - JK Simmons
    Radar - Michael Cera
    Klinger - Demitri Martin
    Hawkeye - Ryan Reynolds
Father Mulcahy - Mike White (Ned from School of Rock)
these are all ive come up with, i think that's a pretty badass cast. especially the inclusion of demitri as klinger!

yeah, but they'd obviously put him in a new movie, he's become one of the most recognizable traits of the franchise

There is no ULTIMATE remake. MASH is a classic and should be left alone. I can't imagine any new cast doing a better job then the original. Sutherland, Skerritt, and Gould are at their best. Leave well enough alone. Leave it alone so folks who haven't seen the original can enjoy.

honestly, if they made a MASH movie now it would just be a movie version of the TV show, like Starsky and Hutch or The Brady Bunch movies
it wouldnt be remaking the classic Altman/Gould/Sutherland film because it would probably have a whole new plot line and whatnot, just like when the tv show came out, it was just the continued adventures of 3 army doctorsand if i remember correctly that show ran for more than a decade and was critically acclaimed.

I can't say what I think about your remake cast as I have not heard of any of them.

Very funny! I think the idea of recasting great films is just silly.

A remake would be a box office disaster. Personally, I would like to see a reunion instead. It's 40 years later, and everyone still among ther living gets together at a barbeque. They all are teaching a new generation of military medics. Know it sounds bit sparse, but that could work.

Lt. Colonel Henry Blake - Jeffrey Tambor
                            Hawkeye - Robert Downey Jr.
                            Radar - Jay Baruchel
Hot Lips Hoolihan - Rachel McAdams
Trapper John - Neil Patrick Harris
Frank Burns - Danny Huston (Col. Stryker from Wolverine)
                            Father Mucahy - Hugh Laurie
Klinger - Jonah Hill (although not in the original movie)
Capt. 'Painless' Waldowski - Jason Segel
I like Ryan Reynolds for Hawkeye too. I don't think this would be too hard to remake. Since Hollywood can't crap out an original movie these days, they might as well remake something worthwhile.

Fail. The big flaw is that both Simmons and Cera come across as too cerebral to play the addle-brained/naive characters of Henry & Radar, respectively. (And yes, I know Radar wasn't as juvenile in the film as he was on the series).
I can't picture Cera carrying a teddy bear or Simmons getting tangled up in fishing line, can you?
