Yea. The wife got cancer during its run, and they did the last couple seasons where Alf was a widow. Dandy Nichols started out as a heavy set woman, and you can begin to visibly see the effects chemotherapy had on her, as she became unhealthily skinny and her aging progressed. In the season before she passed, she was in a wheelchair, due to the cancer and chemo, and in the series they explained it as her having bad knees or something. Quite sad.

Not one thing you just wrote is true.
Death Us Do Part came to an end in 1975 but was revived in 1981, entitled Till Death…, and again in 1985.[12] Dandy agreed to appear, but had been suffering from rheumatoid arthritis and had to use a wheelchair.[2] Her illnesses were written into the scripts, and the series was appropriately renamed In Sickness and in Health.[13]
Her poor health led to a fall in her flat and she died three days later of pneumonia and heart disease on 6 February 1986 aged 78 at the London Hospital, Whitechapel. -

In my defense, they air the Sickness Health episodes in syndication with Till Death Us Do Part here, as the newer episodes, just as they merge "Archie's Bunker's Place" with All in the Family, just as they merge "Good Morning with Bliss" with Saved by the Bell as the early episodes. While technically different series, they combine them and air them as one sequential series in reruns.
