The Longest Kiss wasn't that bad

I'm sure there definitely worst episodes than that including the entire 9th season! And I can definitely admit I'd rather watch that episode than do other things like having a root canal, laying in middle of a busy highway, watch the complete entire series of
The Adventures Of Ozzie and Harriet,
swim in shark infested water, sitting through a complete Yoko Ono concert, playing Russian roulette with an automatic, etc. As I've mentioned before, I thought the episode was dull really no plot. It just seemed like they were just trying to find ways to waste twenty plus minutes until we get Archie to make his big return at the end -

I blame that episode on the producers. Evidently they busted O'Connor's balls for winning his "strike" by giving him as little air time as possible on his return, leaving the bulk of the episode to the others.
The Jeffersons livened things up for sure.
Lol. Your description of self-torture would apply to me also, only in regards to sitting through other TV shows (a good number of them). -

The jury is still out on whether or not that's the worst episode. I haven't compiled an actual top rank or bottom rank list. I've actually tried a few times over the years and I've always often change my decision on which episode is higher/lower than the other. Some are always consistent as far as which are good and which are bad though

There definitely isn't much going in with it.
Maybe if Archie had been declared missing again on his way home would've livened things up a little, before finally showing up at the door at the end.
I don't think it's any worse than the Cousin Roy episode. Or the Baby Shower episode.
Sorry CJ, but I still think the Billy Crystal episode is better than any of the above (but not by much). -

Love By Appontment is pretty drab, but is better than the previous ones mentioned.
The Butcher and Archie Finds a Friend seem like passable season nine episodes. Archie's humorous approach to the guest stars make those two superior to the others mentioned. -

The Billy Crystal one has a couple of redeeming qualities. You can't say it's boring. The old baby-sitter was kinda funny. I love the story Trudy's mother told about how she and her husband drove up to visit the Bunkers a couple of times - whenever they rang the bell, she saw the curtains move a little, then the lights went out.
The episode is bottom of the barrel to be sure, but there are a few below it.
