    I wasn't putting in an opinion, just pointing out that there was a different feel to the show after those writers were hired. The earlier seasons were definitely edgier.

          Lucille Ball was great in her day. But by 1971, she had been doing inferior television for years, shouting all her lines off cue cards, doing crappy production numbers, and fawning over C-list celebrities (Wayne Newton! Lawrence Welk!). She was not in any position to criticize other shows.
