Anyone know who designed Sally's clothes, or how to find out. I just recently started watching this show again and I am amazed at how great her wardrobe looks even now, which is unusual for a show from that era.

      Hello,
I haven't checked the end credits about her clothes, but they were very chic for the time. I was in high school at the time, and after watching Sally on Sunday night, I would try to dress like her the next day at school. She was very influential to me, especially her dress.

I watch McMillan and wife pretty much while working out since I taped some shows back in the 70s and there's 2 costume designers names that come up
Burton Miller 71-72 and Joanna Hass who I saw at the end in a 1975 tape. Hope that helps.

I'm so glad I saw this comment. I, too had wondered for years who was behind the "Sally McMillan" wardrobe. Bo-ho chic is what it's called now. Don't know what is was called when the series was on. Thanks again.

Her clothes got better later on. The '71 season clothes stink.

Just watched an episode "Requiem for a Bride" on TV and noticed SSJ was obviously going braless wearing a pinkish flesh coloured top. Interesting for 1975 TV.

I like Sally's clothes now. Some of them haven't dated much. Not like Mac's which are very 70's! I saw a website yesterday that was selling a shirt that Rock Hudson wore in the pilot and in the second episode. It was grey and pinkish stripe (you can see it when he takes off his jacket and dives into the water to save Sally from the barrel.)It is 100% cotton and was made for Rock. It has a label inside saying it was handmade for Rock and the date July 1971. It was for sale for $1250 usd! I think it was called www.thegoldencloset.com

Sally's clothes were one of the main reasons to watch this show, the others being Rock Hudson's subtle ability with light humor, SSJ's charisma, and the chemistry between them. From 1971 through 1972, in particular, Sally's clothes were outstanding; funky and reflective of the style of the times - smock tops, lots of plaid, patchwork, slinky halter dresses, shawls, and crocheted hats - and SSJ looked great in them! She even had a "cap cut" shag-style haircut the first year. A quintessential 70's look.

Clothes (and fashion) of the 1970s were and still are fab. That was a very original decade and even the oddest was cool.
