The fact that he toots his horn to all the trains, and that he gives the classic crossing pattern when going round the corner up to the cliff, makes me think that the trucker is probably an ex-train driver.
    I am - SUPERFLUOUS!!!

Just after the train scene & as Mann pulls over to one side the train sounds it's horn and then so does the truck driver. It's always made me wonder if there was a reason why the truck driver did this.
      Any ideas?

Maybe he has respect for the fact the train is bigger and more powerful than the truck and he knows he could never win that battle? Just a guess.

Come on now, you don't drive a train. You RUN it. There's no steering wheel in there 😉
Seriously though, the part at the end of the chase just before they climb the big hill. They are driving parallel to a train and the truck toots its horn and the train responds. I never knew if it was just a random ad-lib or if it was supposed to mean something.

Well, they do call the people who operate trains "engine drivers".
