Really? 25 million for a movie like this in 1971 isnt that a lot. 25 million back then is what 100 million in todays money. A movie like this costing 100 million is pretty unlikely or what

It says its an estimate, and I think a wildly inaccurate one. Wikipedia says the budget is $8m but doesn't give a source, but seems a bit more realistic - about $30m in today's money. IMDB has the rentals revenue down as $8m, so I'm wondering if they have got the amounts the wrong way around.

And Donald Sutherland was just coming off of MASH the year before, which had made an astounding amount of money, so I'm betting his payday had just risen substantially, as well.
