I really enjoyed this movie because it surprised me. I was expecting a typical 1970s sleaze fest full of gratuitous nudity and violence.
Instead I get a movie that's rather funny and quirky. Andrew Prine is awesome as Simon. The camera work is brilliant, well above the level of the standard B movie.
Simon King of the Witches offers a unique insight into the world of magick.
Highly recomended. -

Andrew Prine went to the same high school and I did (Miami Jackson in Miami of course) and I watched this just to see him and this was probably his best acting I've seen from him. The film is more of a deadpan comedy than a horror movie and Prine's character is so full of himself you sometimes want to laugh but other times groan.
But for a low-budget '70ish film this is a real treat and certainly proves the point of "Don't fool with Mother Nature" or in this case the Gods of Warlocks.
My favorite: "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb"

It is very odd indeed. Not quite the supernatural horror movie I was hoping it would be, but that's my fault for expecting it to be; not a flaw in the film. Not something I would be interested in watching every single day, but I'm glad I gave it a chance this one time because it wasn't bad. Just different.
