One of my favorite movies ever. Not to be Euro-centric, but I wondered several times during the movie whether Nicolas Roeg had been watching any Godard. I haven't seen everything by Godard and can't name a specific Godard movie that I'm thinking of (maybe bits of Le Weekend), but some of the social satire and surrealism/absurdism and sudden cuts to unexplained footage as social commentary, did strike me as Godard-esque. The 1971 time period would be right.
Even if I'm totally off base, does anyone know what Roeg was watching/influenced by in the years leading up to the time he made this?
