I've always felt the same way. I realize that this show made a huge series of jumps:
Potter went from arriving in Sept. of 1952 to having been there for all of 1951.
Between the garden, which isn't seen any other time.
The bets that grew to involving nearly everyone
    The kidney machine.
However, I still love the episode and always feel for Mulcahy. Obviously Igor had never lived in the country.
Destroying an empire to win a war is no victory and ending a battle to save an empire is no defeat

I'd be mad too. Creamed corn is disgusting

It is. I think I liked it when I was younger but the last time I had it I thought it was nasty.

I love it, but I too would've been pretty pizzed at Igor creaming it after dreaming for months about fresh corn on the cob.

I felt bad too. He was so excited about eating the corn he grew just to have Igor cream it. He looked like he was about to cry.

I've always liked Father Mulcahy. I feel bad for him at times too.

It is no doubt the lot of the priest but he did give far more than he ever received. And who creams freshly picked corn anyway!?
Sometimes a movie or tv show plot is so stupid that only the stupid can understand it.

I'm not a religionist, but I can generally appreciate chaplains for what they do for the troops. I think they're as valuable as doctors and psychiatrists in the combat zones.
                      I blame autocorrect.
You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.

So why didn't he just tell Igor how he wanted it prepared? It seemed like corn on the cob was all he talked about, did he not say anything Igor? For that matter, Igor wasn't even a cook, why was he making the corn anyway?
I didn't get creaming it, either. And I don't see it as a country/city thing. Mulcahy was from Philadelphia. I would think corn on the cob would be easier to make than creamed corn. seeing as you'd have to scrape off all the corn and then do whatever you do to cream it, especially if you are making enough for the whole campo.
