The 20s (2020s) (2020-9) are the third decade of the 2000s century (2000-99) and the third decade of the 2000s millennium (2000-999). Today is the start of the third decade (2021-30) of the 21st century (2001-2100) and the third decade of the 3rd millennium (2001-3000). That's HOW!!

No, it's actually the
first
year of the decade.
We started in the year
one,
not the year zero. Therefore, the first decade was comprised of the years
1 to 10.
The second decade was years 11 to 20, etc. all the way up to the previous decade which, was from
2011 to 2020.

i learned nothing, i'm afraid. i have heard that argument before and i can report it is fake news. let's imagine you're back in grade school. if a teacher asked you to list every number in the 20s and you listed 30 they'd call you a mongo and send you packing. as they should. 30 is not part of the 20s and 20 is not part of the teens. i ask, how can we label this decade as the 20s, yet not include that year among it? we can't. not on my website.

It's BOTH you two! One is for the 2000s, either the 2000s century of 2000-2099 OR the 2000s millennium of 2000-2999. 2020-2029 is BOTH the third decade of the 2000s century and the third decade 2000s millenium. 2021-2030 is BOTH the third decade of the 21st century, 2001-2100 and the third decade of the 3rd millennium of 2001-3000.
