Yeah, especially if you haven't seen The Magnificent Seven, The Great Escape, The Dirty Dozen, and Once Upon a Time in the Westnot to mention his 1972 peak with Chato's Land, The Velachi Papers, and of courseThe Mechanic. Stop thinking of the 1980s "auto pilot" Charlie when he did any old thing that came his way and take the time to watch the man at the peak of his game. Judging a performer on their lesser efforts is just a negative way of looking at the world and it isn't healthy, either. Now do your "homework" 😉
      All Hail Bronson. 😉

Those first four aren't 'Bronson' films. That's like saying Ocean's Eleven is a Bernie Mac movie.

Hard Times - Charlie at his understated finest.
              Charlie was the
              man
in his prime.and HIS "prime", was in his 50's.
Charlie was so badass, like Chuck Norris, his name is synonymous for a badasseven Quentin Tarantino knows it!

The Mechanic is a great example of what action thrillers used to be, back before they just turned into endless explosions, rediculously over the top stunts, and pointless special effects, all served up on a pg-13 platter of non-offensive-to-anyone mediocrity. The Mechanic actually had plot, and character, and tension, and logical story progression, things we just don't see enough of these days. It was an actual film, not just an extended overblown trailer. And while Michael Winner was hardly ever one of the best directors in the world, this is one of his best efforts, cemented by two great central performances from Bronson and Vincent. And I tell ya, I'll take an honest and quality b-movie action thriller like The Mechanic over 99% of what passes for action thrillers these days, because no matter how big the stunts or how loud the explosions, they'll never make up for a lack of real plot and character in my eyes.

Didn't like the movie as much as I enjoyed Violent City, Malachi Papers, or Hard Times, but I certainly like it more than Chato's Land, hahaha!

Hey, don't knock Chato's Land. That is one of Bronson's best films. But if you want a treat, watch Red Sun. It's the best in my opinion.

"The Mechanic" does not suck. It is a tight thriller with a good plot and great actors. I wish Jan Michael Vincent would have done better than he has done. He has done some good stuff outside of "The Mechanic" and had good potential (watch "Tribes" on late night sometime). Bronson is and will always be a classic.
