I would rather watch reruns of "Match Game '73-'78" than this new version. I can't stand Alec Baldwin, but that is only one reason why I won't watch it. I think it is depressing when someone tries to take a true classic and remake it with today's stars and trashy "humor".
Honestly, I hope it dies a quick death and someone learns from their mistake. -

Alec does seem to have some anger issues and I don't see him as a comic who understands how games shows work. Gene and the panel understood that dead air could destroy a show. I don't think Alec realizes how much light hearted discussion he'd have to do in order to not offend an audience. But I'd like to see a demonstration that proves how talented Gene R. really was.
I'm just wondering how dirty the comments and answers get before the network freaks out. -

I don't think Alec will be any worse than Gene since Gene was pretty bad and very un-funny to begin with.
Either we will get the "Brass Balls" or the Capitol One Alec or something in between.
Damn, I'm good. -

I can accept it if it's different or more modern which means things less censored or more raunchy then they were in the 70's.
I don't expect Alec to be any funnier than Gene. He isn't very funny to begin with and I dunno how he does at ad libbing.
Johnny Carson was the king of that. He was great at off the cuff stuff.

I don't think Match Game will work modern day. Why it worked in the 70s is you couldn't be very risky on TV. They had to dance around dirty themes and use innuendo which honestly made it funny. In 2016 the things you can actually say and do on TV are so dirty and over the top I don't think it will work. It only worked originally because of the era it existed in.

There are still limits to what they can and cannot say on TV.
Now they can say, "sex" but they still can't say f * * k or get more graphic.
So I think it could still work.
Besides, we'll have to listen for how it is written. They'll find ways to keep it fun as they did before.

Just look at Family Feud. They make the modern humor work and the host is a big reason why it's popular. So Baldwin will have to be able to do what Steve Harvey has done to keep the show moving along and humorous. But MG is good because all the stars are very relaxed and naturally funny. So today's panelists will have to do the same.

Alec will soon have a 3rd kid with his much younger wife and is looking for an easy gig that will pay him a fortune. Nice work if you can get it.
