For those interested, there's now a Blu-Ray available for this movie in Germany. Search at Amazon.de for "Drei Haselnsse fr Aschenbrdel Blu-Ray". Video quality is decent, a noticeable upgrade over the DVDs, IMHO. Unfortunately the Blu-Ray doesn't come with the original Czech audio track, nor with English subtitles. But the German dub is pretty good, probably not any worse than the Czech original (I have both tracks and compared them).
The German subtitles are really good. I also have separate English subtitles (in SRT format), which I've manually translated from the German subtitles. These manually translated subtitles should be much better than the pretty bad English DVD subtitles. -

I have the Bluray. I wondered, it actually better than the remastered DVD from WDR?
Hard to tell with Amazon mixing reviews for all versions at their site.
Btw, the Czech version isn't really the original version - at least, not the only original version. As noted the trivia section, it was filmed with German and Czech actors playing in their native tongues (it was a coproduction between the CSSR and GDR). The whole film was afterwards dubbed into each language respectively. In this respect, it was like with many western European productions of the time (like Sergio Leone's movies), where actors spoke Italian/French/English/Spanish when filming.
Best!
