Thank you to Barry and Petra, youve come up with exactly what I was looking for. Ive tried to see if Zlatovlaska is available to buy, and there is a video available in Czech only (on a Czech website) but I dont understand enough Czech to be able to order it. Is Zlatovlaska popular in the Czech Republic I wonder?
I have another query now, maybe this will be harder to answer. I remember another serial in the 70s, at least it was shown as a serial in Wales, but Ive never found reference to it anywhere. It was called in English 'Desert Adventure' and I dont think it was Czech. Ive always thought it was from Poland, but Im really not sure. I can remember kids breaking up for school holidays, I believe travelling by train.then somehow the action turns to a desert country (somewhere in Africa I presume). There are scorpions, kidnappings, hostage-taking.that kind of thing, I remember it being very good.but does anyone else remember? and what country was it from? what was it called in the original language?
    Again I'd appreciate any help.

Zlatovlaska is also very often shown on Christmas on Czech TV, but is not so popular as "S certy nejsou zerty".
The TV series you are talking about might be really some kind of co-production of several "Iron Curtain" countries. It might help if you remembered some names of actors or places mentioned in the TV series.

I have never heard about such series, but it reminds me on one children book written by Henryk Sienkiewicz. I think it could be called "Through Desert and Rainforest" in English (actually, I only translated the Czech name of it).

Yes, that's exactly what I meant. I didn't remember the Polish name.

I as Czech don't remember something like that made in our country, it really looks like "Through Desert and Rainforest" by H. Sienkiewicz as marmota-b 've written.

I was unsure at first about your suggestion but since then, Ive looked up the film version of Sienkiewicz's novel and you're right, that's precisely what I remember. It's strange because I always thought it was set in modern times (1960s/1970s at that time) but it seems it was set in the 19th century. There was also a remake done more recently it seems; it's all here on IMDB. Thanks to everyone who helped solve this mystery for me.
In Britain this was called "Desert Adventure" but the Polish title is "W pustyni i w puszcsy" (Through Desert and Wilderness).
