I was wondering that myself, I'm surprised there are no new reviews on amazon.com.

I agree. I'll be writing a review of this DVD release soon. Watching the new version is like walking out of hell and discovering heaven. Even if you have the awful Rhino version, this disc is worth every penny of it's price just for the excellent film and audio transfer.

Was Walking Tall filmed in Wide Screen? I read on one review that WT was filmed in full frame when released to theatres but was matted on dvd to correct the picture because on previous releases boom microphones were seen.

Well Wide screen might be better. You can really see the action.

I know this post is about two years old but let me answer you. The film was made in a 1.33:1 negative ratio. Some will claim this is the way it was meant to be seen but that is not true. It was filmed that way, but the intention was always to edit the film into 1.78:1 and was released that way theatrically. When shown on television, the 1.33:1 cut was broadcast which is why some people claim that the fact that there are so many instances of the boom mike being in the picture was a filming mistake is not true. It wasn't there in the theatrical prints. The fact is, in the wide screen print seen on the newer DVD is the way the film was always meant to be seen.
I don't take the movies seriously and anyone who does is in for a headache

I have the excellent Shout! Factory box set of all three Walking Tall movies. They are all presented in crisp widescreen transfers.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
