I think he's a great contender. Loving the original series, Lee Majors did an extraordinary portrail of the character. Steve Austin was the original everything cyborg such as the terminator and blade runner afterall. Now it's time to pass the mm antle on to another brilliant actor who has what it takes to feel the role, after all, Mark is a huge fan of tbe original series and will do it justice. I'm open to other contenders but I am not dismissing Mark. Let' see what happens, afterall, the Kevin Smith Bionic Man and the new Six Million Dollar Man series Six comics currently being published by Dynamite doesn't necessarily portrait Lee Majors' likeness towards Steve Austin or Jaime Sommers so why does the next movie have to? Let's hope that Mr. Lee Majors himself does a cameo in homage to his dedication to the original and a huge bonus for the fans!

Count me on board with Wahlberg as well. When he first started acting I was like "Really?", but he's really won me over the last few years. I think he's a great actor, and he fits this role perfectly IMO. Great choice if it comes to pass.

I agree. Pretty much sums up my opinion of Wahlberg's career. He's really come into his own in recent years.
However, I'm of the opinion that they should go with a lesser known or an unknown, like they did with Christopher Reeve for
Superman: The Movie
. I suppose if they had to go with a well known actor, Wahlberg would be a great choice. -

I'd say simply cast Mark Wahlberg as a new character that got injured while on leave in a bomb explosion. He's been rebuilt and offered to infiltrate and defeat the terrorist organization that bombed him.
Have a different head OSI character and hell I guess you can keep Rudy with a new actor. Rudy has already had 3 different actors playing him. -

I'd agree with this.I'd rather see new characters in the movie if it's made.It could just be a continuation from the series. This way they can allow Lee and Lindsay to reprise their roles in some capacity,if they want to be part of it.
Forgive your enemies. It messes with their heads. -

Agreed, but I would still love and enjoy to have there be a
The Six Million Dollar Man
move titled either
The Sixty Million Dollar Man
(
The Six Billion Dollar Man
and
The Six Hundred Million Dollar Man
are joke titles, btw),
The Bionic Man
(the male version of The Bionic Woman), or just simply
Cyborg
like the novel.
I'll put-up a new signature when I'm good and ready -

It's funny. I was never a big fan of the show. I've seen a few episodes here and there but over the past few years, I've wanted to read Cyborg. So I finally read it and I couldn't picture someone else as Steve Austin. No matter how hard I tried, Lee Majors image and voice always popped into my head ha ha!
I like Wahlberg but he doesn't seem right for the role. They should get someone taller at least. I guess it doesn't really matter as long as the script is good.

Don't know about any of the other posters on this thread, but I have "0" interest in seeing anyone other than Lee Majors portray The Six Million Dollar Man. It's nothing personal against Mark Wahlberg or any of the others who may have been considered but there is only ONE STEVE AUSTIN as far as I'm concerned.

There is only one Col. Steve Austin and his name is Lee Majors. Mark Wahlberg does not have the charisma, humor and everything else that makes Lee special. Of course I am not interested in watching this movie in fact I am watching the real Steve Austin on tv right now and enjoying every minute of it. Lee Majors created this character and Mark Wahlberg isn't even close

Agreed friend !!!! There is only ONE STEVE AUSTIN (LEE MAJORS). There are just certain CLASSIC characters that do not need to be duplicated (i.e. Carrol O'Connor (as Archie Bunker), Peter Falk (as Columbo), Lucille Ball (as Lucy Ricardo), James Arness (as Matt Dillon) .. just to name a few.
In fact, I hope the Six Million Dollar Man bombs as this will keep them from making any additional sequels. Again, nothing personal against Mark Wahlberg.
Hey, if the studios are running out of original ideas (let alone original characters) then let them fire their current staff of writers and hire new ones. Most of the movies based on t.v. shows have failed anyway (i.e. Lost in Space, Bewitched, The Green Hornet, Dragnet .). -

I'm watching the very first episode whenhe becomes the 6 miollion dollar man and there is no way that Wahlberg will even come close to what Lee did, Mark Wahlberg just does not have the acting chops to pull this off character. Please replace him.

I so agree with you. Mrk does not have the looks. the charm. the charisma and the physicality to be or do what Lee Majors did with role. They could have done a remake without making him Steve Austin but another bionic man.

Two guys remind me of Lee Majors and could play the Six Million Dollar Man. Steve Burton from GH (not sure if he's still on the show. He played Jason Quartermaine) and Jensen Ackels (Dean Winchester Supernatural). They have the looks and the personality. Why didn't someone ask me when they were casting the role?
