          Yes, and for its time, it was an event and spectacle film.
          I was fortunate to see this as a kid in 70mm and Sensurround. It was well acted and presented and the characters were quite interesting, considering their predicament. It also rounds it all out with a bitter sweet ending that leaves an impact on the viewer.
          The terrific
          The Poseidon Adventure - '72
          does similar and I prefer
          Earthquake
          to the flat and over-long
          Towering Inferno
          from the same year, yet this one got most of the critical praise including a best picture nomination.
          It would be interesting Anthony, when you ask if posters like a film, you need give some critique, even if only brief, as to what you liked about it. This means you are giving a little more of yourself.
