Why are Python fans so arrogant?

I love MP, but my god, the fans on here kind of suck. If someone doesn't like a Python movie, the first response from the fans is "you're not smart enough for British humor, (usually spelt humour to seem more intelligent) go watch the Hangover/Pineapple Express/Super Bad/Family Guy like most stupid Americans". Why do you have to put it that way? Maybe some people don't like this type of humor; it doesn't make them inferior or unintelligent. Would you call someone stupid for preferring pizza over duck l'orange? Well, some of you on here probably would, but everyone's mind works differently and responds to things in different ways. You can't flame someone because they don't like something you do. I honestly think a lot of the users on here posting that they didn't like the movie are just curious as to why they didn't like it, and if they might be misinterpreting the movie itself. But not all British humor is great. Go watch Jeremy Clarkson do his bits on The Stig if you need proof (Some say it's impossible for him to wear socks. And he can open a beer bottle with his testes. All we know is he's called the Stig.) And by the way, just because you watch BBC America doesn't make you a better person than those that watch NBC/CBS/ABC etc..

I don't think the fans of Python in general are arrogant. Take a look at the Michael Jackson fans, those are arrogant. Some of the most agressive fans I've ever come across.
Point is, some people are just naturally arrogant, and they believe that Monty Python is the ultimate thing in comedy and when somebody poses them with an opinion that is on the opposite of their opinion, they can't handle it. This is not just with Python, but it happens with everything, also with music. You can see this on youtube all the time, watch those annoying comments like '122 people are '. This is because people cannot accept that taste is taste and that not everybody likes the same stuff. -

Michael Jackson fans are not arrogantmost of them can't spell/are crazy and obsessive. I'm a fan of his music but that's because I grew up with it and it reminds me of my childhood. However, I am not obsessed. The obsessed ones are to be feared. Sorry I just had to say that.

I remember Michael Jackson fans being quite arrogant in the 1980s, although not so much anymore.
Not all, but some of the Michael Jackson fans I knew back in the day seemed far more caught up in media hype. Most only liked him because he was popular, and they wanted to jump on that bandwagon. None of them I knew could ever explain why they liked the music. I would get arguments like "Michael Jackson is better than Pink Floyd because MJ sold more albums. Case closed."
In contrast, at least Python fans can explain
why
they like that kind of humor and what the appeal is. That, to me, makes a big difference. I don't mind a bit of arrogance as long as one can explain oneself coherently. -

True there is a lot of people who senselessly bash those who say they don't like the film as you say accusing them of being stupid americans (I wonder what Terry Gilliam makes of this?) or even (my least favourite response) accusing people of 'taking it too seriously'
However there are also a lot of people who come on here and seem to be trying to dislike it just to be different, almost saying 'Hey you sheep, lots of people like this I don't like it 'cos I'm different' and imagining this makes them superior (if you want proof, check out the post from someone who ends his attacking with 'Dare I say the king has no clothes).

Here in the United States, home of standard American English, we spell humor without a "u", and the Americans that do so are generally trying to make themselves seem smarter than they are.
Well that's just like, your opinion, man -

I have to weigh in here.
I understand fully well that english, be it english english or american english, is rife with bizarre spelling and pronunciation inconsistencies, but the way the british spell all those words ending in '-or' as '-our' bugs me. I say four as fore, and humor as humer. Every time I see that extra u, my mind reads 'colore' or 'armore'. To me, the u is meant to make the o long. Am I making sense here?
Having said that, I generally love british culture very much. And at least they're still better at spelling than the french
"is this dangerous?"
"not clinically." -

That's plain ridiculous. Why would anyone deliberately dislike something just to be cool?
When I came to this film I was really excited. I'm a person who loves laughing Imagine me about to watch one of the "best comedies ever", and then realizing it's actually really dated and, in some parts, simply unfunny.
I don't like this film and I agree with the OP: some Monty Python fans are arrogant. -

''I like english humour, more or less.''
What do you like about English humour? And how do you compare to Welsh and Scottish humour? Terry Jones is Welsh, by the way, though MP is from England.
