I don't think anybody needs to "calm down", or is getting their panties in a bunchor is that what you hoped would happen? Why else start a thread about recasting YF? People are simply stating the obvious; it doesn't need to be rebooted, remade, recast, or whatever euphemism you choose. Some movies are fun to speculate about, in the case of YF it's just a waste of time.
This movie's comedy is so broadly done that in the hands of lesser talent it would be like watching something on the level of "Scary Movie".
Put Will Ferrel in it as the star and it becomes unwatchable.

Nah, any remake would undoubtedly be done by Judd Apatow and would no doubt contain a scene of Dr. Frankenstein (Jason Segel), The Monster (Seth Rogen) and Igor (Paul Rudd) smoking pot and talking about jerking off or something.
Or worse, it'll be a Seltzerberg film where "Look, it's Kim Kardashian!" where they cut to a Kim Kardashian impersonator standing around just before a cow falls on her is the most sophisticated joke in the whole movie.

        Dr. Frankenstein- Will Ferrell
        Igor- Paul Giamatti
        Frankenstein's Monster- Brad Garrett
        Inga- Tina Fey
        Elizabeth- Julia Louis-Dreyfuss
        Inspector Kemp- John C. Riley
Harold, The Blind Man- Leonardo DiCaprio
Acting is behaving truthfully under imaginary circumstances.

Yes yes, recasting, just for fun though, don't give hollywood any funny ideas
          Dr. Frankenstein - Josh Radnor
          Igor - Seth Green
Frankenstein's Monster - Nicholas Cage (let's give him a chance)
          Inga - Isla Fisher
          Elizabeth - Malin Akerman
Inspector Kemp - Sacha Baron Cohen
Harold, The Blind Man - Chris Pratt

Let's notand not even say that we did! You can't improve on perfection. And YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is undeniably perfect the way it is, right now.
I watched a re-run of this on the Sundance Channel, last night, and it was still as fall-down hysterically funny as ever. Especially, that "soup-to-nuts" routine with Gene Hackman as the Blind Old Hermit! So, to paraphrase what I said above? Let's none of us pull a George Lucas (as in "fixing what ain't even broken").
            "Here endeth the lesson."

                Hopefully, this
                never
                gets remade.
But if it does, hopefully they
                never
                let Will Ferrell
                anywhere near this thing.
Here's my picks for Young Frankenstein:
                *Dr. Frankenstein -
                Will Forte
                *Igor -
                Mike Myers
                *Frankenstein's Monster -
                Jon Hamm
                *Inga -
                Emma Stone
                *Elizabeth -
                Catherine Zeta Jones
                *Inspector Kemp -
                Bill Hader
                *Frau Bluker -
                Kate Mackinnon
                *Harold, The Blind Man -
                John C Reily

                  *Frankenstein's Monster - Brad Garrett
That would be too funny to have had two actors from Raymond to play Young Frankenstein Monster

                        Let's recast it!!!
No, let's not re-cast it, n00bie. That's stupid. That parts are already filled perfectly. Yet you want to "fix" what isn't broken, so you can break it, hm? If you can't come up with a good original thought, then you're hardly qualified to re-cast a Classic. Get off, n00b! Speaking of
                        classic
, this is NOT your class. Seriously, piss off, you moronic idiot!
