Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Secrets of Isis

    MsMarple — 17 years ago(August 28, 2008 06:11 PM)

There was a show that played on Saturday mornings around the same time as "Isis." It was about a young girl and her teenage brother (and I think their dog) who lived in a van. Does anyone remember the name of this show? It was VERY 70s!
Also, there was a show that played around this time-frame (mid- to late-70s) but it played at night and was only shown periodically, like specials. It was about a girl and her grandfather (or maybe just an older father) and every episode featured someone cutting out a scene with scissors and paper. For example, it would show a silhouette of the girl reading a book or of their house or of a tree with falling leaves. Does anyone remember the name of this show?
These two mysteries have driven me crazy for years! Whenever there is a "I Love the 70s" show, I watch to see if either of these shows are mentioned, but they never are. Thanks for any help that you can give!

I just saw your post today since I've been rediscovering Isis on YouTube and came here to see what others have been posting.
I can't help you with the first show you're wondering about. But I believe I can help you with the second one. I'm almost positive you mean the TV movies concerning a young girl named Addie Mills (Lisa Lucas) who lived with her father Jamie Mills (Jason Robards) and grandmother (Mildred Natwick) in Nebraska in 1946. The first one was called The House Without a Christmas Tree (1972). It's out on DVD and I found it a few years ago at my local Walmart for five bucks. I'm sure you could find it for sale online. I remember that CBS would show the Christmas special every year, probably during most of the 1970's. I was 6 years old when it was first shown in 1972 and I remember watching it with my sister. This movie (theme, plot, characters) had a similar feel to The Waltons, if you know and like that show, probably due to the time period it took place and because they both came out at around the same time. There were 3 other movies: The Thanksgiving Treasure (1973), The Easter Promise (1975) and Addie and the King of Hearts (1976). You can search IMDB to find out more about them.
I know your post is almost 6 years old, but I like to think "better late than never." I hope you see this post and this information helps you. Maybe someone else out there can still help you solve the other mystery! Best of luck.

Could it be "The Kids from C.A.P.E.R"? They had a headquarters in a building, but had a mobile lab, which was an old hotdog vendor wagon. They also had a shark in a tank, that was totally unintelligible (talked gibberish) to everyone except the kids.

Was is possibly Ark II. It was set in the future but there was a teenage twosome traveling around with their pet chimp.
Or could it have been Muggsy? A brother and sister live in a truck, complete with furniture, behind a gas station. I vaguely remember this show. Christopher Walken was one of the guest stars! Theme song by the lead singer for Blood, Sweat and Tears.
