Its not just the issue of a chair. Which would look silly . I'm in great discomfort with quite a few things. So my mind is more focused on pain than it is on punch lines.

I was thinking of the Irish comedian Dave Allen when I wrote that but I hope your health improves. I just happened to hear a New York comedian this morning talking about doing open air stand up in the park and, because of regulations, he couldn’t use a microphone. He’s also doing stand up at drive-ins and on zoom so the comedy community is finding ways to get an audience.

Thanks for the well wishes. Yeah Comedians are starting to get pro active because all of the clubs have been closed since the second week of March.
Not every club owner is extremely wealthy. So some of these clubs may never come back.
As for the Comedians themselves they rely on the income. Think about this, when I was well known in the clubs and doing it regularly I could earn a $100,000 a year just doing the same 12 or 13 clubs in Manhattan.
I never left Nyc. I mean sometimes. But rarely. So guys who were constantly traveling to 200 other cities were making 3 times what I made.
So imagine, comics that have not been on The Tonight show or Letterman or had their own HBO Special and yet still were able to make $300,000 a year
And people wonder why Kevin Hart makes $80 Million a year.
With all of his movies and then he goes on a Comedy concert tour. Man.

The backstage people are still losing out but I’ve heard about successful comedians raising money to help out. On a slightly related note I have friends who appeared on the online Comic-Con. One of them usually travels around the world appearing at conventions and giving talks but he’s been stuck in London writing articles and finally sorting out his huge comic and book collection.
