Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Secrets of Isis

What you all seem to be forgetting is that in the original show, the white female archaeologist FINDS the buried jewelry which gives her the powers of the ancient goddess Isis. The show is NOT about the original goddess, but of the archaeologist! So who cares what color the original goddess was?
    EXACTLY. Excellent point.
I would love to see Kristin Kreuk (Lana Lang on Smallville) play Isis. She has a remarkable resemblance to JoAnna Cameron's appearance, at the time that the Isis series was filmed.

If they do make the movie, the role will probably go to Angelina Jolie.
Come on, Francine. You can't tell me that's not funny.

Isis must be played by Mariana Tosca of Christmas in the Clouds. Look at her pictures. See Christmas in the Clouds. She is hot and was good in that movie and would make a great Isis. I would cast Joanna Cameron as an older character like her mother perhaps.

Nawww, she's to american-looking. It should be someone who looks a bit exoticIman, Naomi Campbell and Pam Grier would be good choices if they were a bit younger. Too, a somewhat dark hispanic would be good.

Why a black actress? Egyptians weren't/aren't black.
The context of the show was that a school teacher FOUND an amulet so it could have been anybody.

Egyptians didn't look like Elizabeth Taylor either..LOL
The teacher can be anybodybut when she transforms to Isis it would have to be someone of brown complexion whether they are of Middle Eastern descent or a fair complexed black person like Berry

                      Isis was not "black".
Isis is Egyptian. I'd prefer an Egyptian actress.

Thousands of years ago, Egyptian Queen Hatchupset was given an amulet by her Royal Wizard. This amulet empowered the queen with the powers of the goddess Isis; to command the elements of sky and earth. Flash forward to present time (1970's that is) young science teacher Andrea Thomas found this lost amulet while on an archaeological dig. She found she was heir to the "Secrets of Isis." By bearing the necklace that had the amulet, and calling out the phrase "OH MIGHTY ISIS," Andrea was transformed into Isis. As Isis, she could "soar as the falcon soars, run with the speed of gazelles, and command all the elements of sky and earth.
Here's a pic of Isis from an ancient Egyptian tomb. I don't know where some of you got your info, butYeah, real NUBIAN black there, jackasses!
                              http://www.pantheon.org/areas/gallery/mythology/africa/egyptian/isis.jpg
Her origins are uncertain but are believed to have come from the Nile Delta; however, unlike other Egyptian deities, she did not have a centralised cult at any point throughout her worship. First mentions of Isis date back to the Fifth dynasty of Egypt (2498 B.C.E. to 2345 B.C.E.)which is when the first literary inscriptions are found, but her cult became prominent late in Egyptian history, when it began to absorb the cults of many other goddesses. It eventually spread outside Egypt throughout the Middle East and Europe, with temples dedicated to her built as far away as the British Isles. Pockets of her worship remained in Christian Europe as late as the 6th century.
So let's just all hope and pray that the actress they do get has some actual talent and that it is not given to her strictly for her skin color. Joanna Cameron she's not, but I think Mona Zaki
                              http://www.waleg.com/photos/albums/userpics/10001/normal_mona-zaki17.jpg
would be a hell of a choice.
And that's all I have to say!

Pretty funny. Just to make sure no one misses your sarcasm, here's the page with that image:

                                Not even remotely black.
So Isis wasn't black, nor is Andrea Thomas black.

So what if she's not real dark-skinnedblack folks, FYI,come in ALL colors, from Caucasian to charcoal-black, and I grew up around black folks that EXACT light brown color (there's a number of them within my own family, plus my significant other is that exact shade). Obviously some of you posters haven't been around black folks enough to know (living and growing up in mostly all-black communities until my mid-teens, I should know) how skin color shades vary widely amongst us as well as other people of color in general. So, yeah, Isis could have been black and STILL be that color. End of story. She obviously wasn't white, her myth wasn't even created by white folksGET over it,y'all! We're arguing semantics here!
It also kills me how white people have always treated Egypt like it couldn't possibly be part of Africa, because of its great contributions to what we call modern civilization. If you look on the damn map, it's IN Africa, and no amount of claiming that its people weren't black or anything near is going to change that. To me it's like saying that New York isn't part of New York the state, despite the fact that it very much isit's always sounded ridiculous amd more than racist to me,as if Egypt's great civilization could not have POSSIBLY been created by anybody resembling a black person. It's just so beep stupid to meskin color dosen't have s*** to do with genius or advancing/creating a civilization. Honestly, sometimes I can't help thinking as I've delved into ancient history that people back in those times then seemed far less racist to some extent than they are nowseriously.

Who ever told you that the 'Egyptian Goddess' was black??? Just because Egypt is in Africa does not mean that all the people living there are black, the Egyptians are derived from the Arabic, and they are certainly not now or ever have been black. So why should an African-American play Isis? It should be done by an actress of Egyptian heritage, let's get real about it.

Remember the premise to the TV show "Isis": Andrea Thomas was a science teacher who unearthed the magical amulet that gave her the powers of the goddess Isis. She found out that she was a "descendant" of Isis, and that was why she could use her powers.
Also, take this into consideration: In the movie "Queen Of The Damned", Akasha, the queen of the vampires(an Egyptian character, by the way)was played by the late Aaliyah. And, in the movie "Selena" Selena was played by Jennifer Lopez, who I don't think have the same background.I know that Jennifer Lopez is Puerto-Rican, but I believe that Selena was something else (don't get me to lying, or guessing)!!!
In any event, my point is: it's not unusual for Hollywood to use this type of casting.
Now, here's a shot-in-the-dark-thought as to who could play Isis if a movie is made: I don't exactly know her first name, but I believe her last name is Rai!
Does anyone know who I'm referring to?
