She may have not been a beauty queen but Florida had a pretty smile and a rich complexion.

Weezy was a cutie pie in my opinion and how she put George in his place when everybody else was afraid to, which made her even more attractive to me.
Yes, Florida Evans (Esther Roller) wasn't exactly the epitome of beauty in America's eyes but that didn't matter to me. Her acting stood up for her and she is surely missed (RIP).
It is jerks or superficial people like you that make this world harder for people to feel good about themselves.
So many negative thoughts on people's minds when they could just keep ignorant chatter to themselves.
You're a grown ass man and you on some high school bull crap on this thread.

I pick corey as nasty to look at.
I agree, Weezy was a straight up cutie pie. Even in the earlier seasons when she was still dressing like she lived on Hauser St. I never found Isabel Sanford to be nasty in the least bit just a bit of an over actress.
As for Esther Rolle. If she just picked out her Afro more in the earlier years she would be okay.

Hauser Street. That's funny. Yeah, Rolle looked better when she wore Afros and that were either picked or looked like a blow out.
Either way, Sanford and Rolle were some top-notch female actresses that I miss. The Black community needs more female roles on TV like Florida and Weezy.

Sometimes Weezy looked very nice. Other times she looked plain and not that great. I never saw Good Times but from what I've seen of her from clips Weezy was definitely better.
But let's be honest here. The standards of beauty in America and most of the world are based on the western standards established in the glory days of Hollywood from the 1920s to the 1950s. It was an all white hollywood that basically captivated the whole world. That's just the way it was. That's why white women are the most sought after women on earth. Look at all the black guys trying to hook up with white women. You don't see white guys trying to do the same with black women on the same scale.
This is NOT a prejudiced statement. If Blacks had settled America and pioneered hollywood then black men and women would set the standard around the world for beauty. You would see plenty of white guys and non black guys want to date and marry black women.
So as Freud said we are a product of our environment. Only because we live in a world where white women set the standard for beauty they are the most desired. If black, Chinese, Indian, Malay, Hispanic, etc. set the international standard of beauty for women then THEY would be the most desired!

But this is the 21st century now and times have changed and still are changing. Men desire all types of women not just the Barbie one-size-fits all types. The media wants you to believe there's only one type of beauty but in the real world, anything goes: Black, white, Hispanic, Asian, multiracial. As long as you are attractive, nice figure and personality you will do just fine. And I know you've heard of the phrase Black Don't Crack by now. Black women don't have a thing to worry about beauty and age wise. White women are beautiful but they're not as much as a threat nowadays.
Most Black men celebrities are married to Black women too even though the media doesn't talk about them as much. This isn't the stone ages, women of all races and colors are desirable or can be. It depends on her lifestyle and how she carries herself also. Those 1980's Playboy centerfold days are long gone my friend.

That is true to a certain extent. However more than one survey shows black women are the LEAST desireable among ALL ethnic groups of men including black men!! But I'm sure the disapproval among black men is much lower than white men, asian men, etc.

Esther Rolle could be attractive, and had beautiful skin and a lovely smile. Also, her great acting range and dignity transcended looks. Moreover Isabel Sanford evolved into an elegant doyenne during the course of the show, and proved herself to be a great comedienne. It would take 10 actresses to make up the talent these two women had.
