Apparently they felt Hammond's version was too mellow, plus they need Hammond to do Bill Clinton.
Thought Baldwin was fine, but the writing was lacking. There were so many juicy targets there and the writers just failed to go for them. The result was a disappointing, lackluster outing. Let's hope it's just start of the season rustiness and they can pick it up next week. -

I thought Hammond would play Clinton in the scene with Baldwin making it necessary, but it wasn't. Therefore, ultimately pointless.
You're not thinking about the practicalities of running a show. This is just one episode, but they need to think about an entire season. You probably don't get Alec Baldwin whenever you want him unless you sign him up for an entire season. -

He was a great Trump impersonator. McKinnon was good as Clinton, as always. It's a political season and we need good parody on SNL. I have no problem with him at all.
The writing? Not so great really but that's not his fault.
