Here in the UK it’s now the default option but you can easily remove yourself from the list so I’m a potential organ donor by default.

I didn't know it worked that way in the UK.
On an unrelated topic, I wish we could "opt out" of receiving that unsolicited junk mail "to resident" that fills up our mail boxes.

It’s a recent development which I approve of. It’s easy to take your name off the list if you don’t want to do it and I didn’t have to do anything to become a donor. I even have a nice donor card which helps me feel smug.

I am! Although I doubt anyone would want certain organs after I pass

Knowing what it’s like in an ER/ Trauma facility, I can say with some degree of certainty that the last thing on those physicians’ mind is your organ donor status. They have too much scrutiny and too much to lose to risk it. Plus, I think you’d need an emotional attachment to someone in need of an organ to let it influence how you treat another patient. Most of the time, hospitals are shipping these organs across the country.

I come from an extremely religious family, and you'll need to remember these conversations were said to me when I was under the age of ten. I've also read a lot of books by Robin Cook, and I love medical mysteries where they make the most out of these bizarre scenarios.
It's just a question, and I was curious if anyone gave any sort of thought as to if their bodies were handled differently when they were in a car accident and their license revealed they were an organ donor, would less effort be put into saving your life, kind of like an automatic DNR (I'm just using that as an example purely for the sake of playing devil's advocate in this discussion).
I find the topic interesting to debate, and conspiracy or not, it's fascinating. It's also one that I fully admit to not knowing anything about.
Because of my cancer and treatments, obviously I cannot donate my organs anyway. I'm not even sure I can donate blood. One arm is already off limit because of the fear of lymphedema occurring (which sucks because that's the arm that has a super giver of a vein).

According to my Driver’s license I am an organ donor. I’m starting to think about getting that changed.

Yeah, but,…if it were yours, would you want to donate it? That, my good sir, is the question.

No. If I don't get to live no one else gets to live either.

I am an organ donor. I don't think it should even be a choice. Organ donation should be automatic when you die.
