McMurphy was disruptive enough to cause the patients to doubt their own needs of being their and eventually break themselves free of that awful mental institution. McMurphy is the hero.

Her gender has nothing to do with it. She’s also be terrible if she was a man too.
No one wants Ratched to be sensitive, they just want her to work in the best interests of the patients and not cause them to kill themselves. She’s hated upon because she thinks she’s concentration camp who can denigrate and subjugate people as she sees fit. Notice she doesn’t let Mcmuprhy and the others watch the ball game, then gets upset when Mcmuprhy starts narrating it? She hates anyone who contradicts her status. She is a power-hungry dictator.
Billy didn’t need to have any power over her, he just needed to regain his confidence enough to leave the hospital, which Ratched tried to prevent.

Boogery Nights
It’s watchable, but not a classic for me.
Can’t bear FALILV. Have attempted twice to watch and couldn’t get past 30mins. Like WTF! Who wants to watch these losers?

Has to be the very worst movie I have ever watched all the way through. I was young and there was **** all else to do that night and I was hanging with friends and drinking. The drinking didn't help. The movie still sucked.

Nicholson is superb, one of his best performances, and it’s a fine, engaging film but I have never quite loved it as so many do. The five films nominated for Best Picture of 1975 may be the strongest field the Oscars ever selected and Cuckoo’s Nest is actually my least favourite of the five, although still a far from objectionable choice.

1975 was a terrific year for film. It is hard to single one out for best, but from a social perspective and showcasing the human conditioning,
Cuckoo's Nest
sure makes a strong impact.
JAWS maligned sharks, which are a natural part of the ecology, yet the film was unlike audiences had experienced before,
Nashville
is perhaps a tad eclectic for some tastes,
Barry Lyndon
can be rewarding yet not that likeable as a film overall and
Dog Day Afternoon,
a dynamic character driven drama, is really more about Pacino giving it a huge boost and is still one of Lumet's best.
