I loved watching seasons 1 and 2, and I can't wait to see more. Please bring these to DVD!

Listen, folks, the ass hats at Sony don't appear to be listening: seasons 3, 4, 5 are obviously not a priority for them. Having waited 2 and a half years for them, I got desperate and found most of those seasons' episodes available here:

This seller has all but eight episodes of 'Family'. She has transferred them from VHS to DVD, and while the quality of the episodes varies from very good to fair, I am enjoying watching them immensely. The seller is quick, professional, and pleasant to deal with. I paid with PayPal and everything went smoothly. -

Hi ethersmum,
Thanks for pointing out the link:

I'll probably have to buy the rest from them. (Season's 1 and 2 are just not enough!)
Thanks,
Adam

Well it sure dies not look like the other seasons will be released to DVD. It's been quite a while since season 1-2 was released. It's a real shame because Family was one of the best TV shows to ever come along.

Hi
I bought my season set on Ebay, no where in Canada to buy it. I am slowly transferring my beta tapes to dvd, I think I have all of Family episodes. Even went to California to see the real house in Pasadena.

Hey, Norm!
As I've mentioned previously in another thread, the ioffer vendor from whom I purchased the remaining seasons of "Family" is missing eight episodes. If, indeed, you have these missing eight, you might be able to sell copies of them to Donna at ioffer. If you're not interested in doing that, would you be interested in selling them to any interested parties here? I'd definitely be interested. If you have a PayPal account you could get a lot of interest and some business from other "Family" fans.
The missing episodes are:
The Covenant
The Friend's Affair
And Baby Makes Three
Labors of Love
Echoes of Love
Counterpoint
A Child is Given -

I recently purchased seasons 3 through 5 on ioffer.com for $30. The seller had all but 2 episodes. The quality is pretty good; they were made from people's home tapings.

Do you have a link to the seller on ioffer or their name? I went to ioffer and their search function is terrible. I typed in "family tv show 1977" and "family season 3 three" and I got 2000 results of all sorts of garbage that doesn't even match my search.

Coming up on 5 years now since the DVD release. And we'll never get to hear what Sada Thompson had to say about the show. Sigh.
C'mon Sony! Don't wait until we lose another cast member
And you wanna know the worst part? You're from outta state! -

I know! It's absolutely ridiculous. Did the first two seasons not sell well enough? Was no one else watching this show at the time? I keep wondering that even though everyone I knew watched it and I don't see why they wouldn't be clamoring to buy the first set and desperate for the remaining seasons.

There has been no word whatsoever of anything in development, or even if ANYTHING is being considered. What bugs me is some of the crap that's being put out on DVD but apparently theres some problem with this awesome show
Define for me what shows and movies you think are 'crap' compared to
Family
-I'm also sure that Sony Pictures would also like to know. -

Everything made in the last 10 years is out on DVD and yes 90% of it is crap compared to Family, and I don't think Sony gives a rats ass. Family is an excellent quality series and deserves a full release, the point is most of the crap released today doesn't deserve to be.

Excuse me again, but you have no real fracking clue as to what's crap based on your biased prudish neocon opinion of TV shows today, domestic
or
foreign; all that you are saying is lies, innuendo, speculation, and as said above, bias. There have been about a ton of family-oriented shows (long lived and short lived) since the 1990's, from
Full House
to
Step By Step
to
Life Goes On
to
According To Jim
to
7th Heaven
, and all of them were just as family orientated (and some would say as syrupy) as
Family
. Either you've been in hibernation too damn long, or you're way too sensitive to anything that's just a bit risque for you, and that sets off your American right-wing neocon Christian fundamentalist Tea Party morality warning system; in either case, you're quite wrong, and need to stop assuming that all current shows are crap compared to one '70's TV show that itself was most likely excoriated for its frank discussion of topics back in its day.
If anything, as usual
Family
probably didn't get any more box sets from Sony because the first two didn't sell in large enough numbers (the DVD market's been hurting because of the recession, and classic film & TV are suffering more than current films and TV as far as DVD releases are concerned.)
Nothing
else but that is true. And no, I'm sorry, but
Family
isn't any better than current dramas and comedies on the air; it's a good show, but so are the others that you say are crap. I'd say to see if Sony's similar DVD-on-demand system (like that of Warner Bros. and MGM's) would be willing to put the rest of
Family
on DVD-R discs, but it seems that you'd probably object to that, too.
