You forgot the other best things to come out of the 1970s: The Bionic Woman, Little House on the Prairie, and countless classic movies.

I already hate Gal Gadot in the role. She's getting her own Wonder Woman movie and is going to be in Justice League too. I've been saying all along that she was the wrong choice. Sadly, now it looks like we're stuck with her. Every time I watch the original Wonder Woman on TV now, I say to myself, "Now
      that's
Wonder Woman." As far as I'm concerned, Lynda Carter is not just the original. She's the one and only Wonder Woman. I remember how it really took some getting used to when they got Henry Cavill to play Superman. I feel the same way about Christopher Reeve in his role as I do about Lynda Carter in her role. Christopher Reeve is the best Superman and always will be the one true Superman. Christopher Reeve looks like Superman right out of the comics and is better looking than any actor to play Superman, including Cavill. When Man of Steel came out, I was curious and I asked women who they thought was better looking; Christopher Reeve or Cavill. Some women actually said Cavill. But everyone agreed that when you looked at Christopher Reeve, that was Superman. But anyone that has the unmitigated gall to say Gal Gadot, Miss Plain Jane with no body, is more attractive than Lynda Carter, is crazy. For anyone to say she looks like Wonder Woman is crazy. For anyone to think she is just as attractive as Lynda Carter is crazy. Gal Gadot is not Wonder Woman. Lynda Carter is and always will be Wonder Woman. Nobody can top her, but they could've at least tried. They got such a poor choice. I just watched the trailer and I was wondering how any of the original fans are possibly going to buy it if they decide to see the new Wonder Woman.

You guys are hilarious. The "perfect" Wonder Woman. Face it, the series was fun for its time but far from perfect. It was kitschy and very campy, although not high camp like the Batman series a decade earlier. You might as well be saying Adam West was the definitive Batman or George Reeves the definitive Superman. Growing up on the old shows, I was skeptical of Chris Reeve and especially Michael Keaton, but I gave them a chance and they won me over. Later, I didn't think Christian Bale could revive the role after the disasters of Kilmer and Clooney, but he also surprised me. On the flip side, I don't like Routh's or Cavill's Superman or Affleck's Batman, but not because they're not the heroes I grew up with, just because I don't think their characters or stories are well done. None of you are even willing to admit that your love for the show is based almost completely on nostalgia, not on any objective measure of quality.

Lynda Carter is still, hands down, the hottest Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot can't even compare to her. They should've got someone better than Gal Gadot.
Next to Lynda Carter, she's a plain Jane.
Let's be honest - compared to Lynda Carter in her 1970s prime, almost every woman alive is a plain Jane.

Agreed, and it extends beyond the 70's IMO. I got a laugh out of the premise in
Posing: Inspired by Three Real Stories (1991)
where Lynda was an "ordinary" housewife and mother/bowling alley owner. Yeah, right, just like a Ferrari is an "ordinary" coupe. I'm presuming due to the movie coming out, her photo page on IMDB has exploded- there are 128 of them as of right now, and a bunch of HQ pictures from her WW days.
I didn't see many episodes of
            Hawkeye (1994)
, which was 20 years after WW, but as I recall she was still very beautiful as a "plain" frontier type woman. There are not too many pictures from that show here, but I found one online:
            http://i2.sell.com/9/68/632978/60/66/3944151-l.jpg
IMO, it's not unique to Lynda. I watched
            Becker (1998)
            in the 90's. IMO
            Nancy Travis
looks better almost 20 years later in
            Last Man Standing (2011)
(at least until she chopped off most of her hair) than she did back in the 90's.
As to the topic and a sub-discussion, I think the casting folks could have done a better job as I've heard there are always a lot of actresses looking for work. The more I see of Galdot the less I see her as WW, but that is the way of the world. Plenty of younger folks seem to like her as the character, and they are the target audience, not me.
Having seen both, I liked Cavill as Superman. I really liked parts of
            Man of Steel (2013)
such as when he took down the drone, the scene with "This man is not our enemy", and the part when his dad was killed (I didn't like that his dad was killed, I thought it was a good performance). I do not plan on seeing
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
since I find the premise stupid.

yeah and that proves how amazingly beautiful Lynda carter was, that's the point!!! so, you are saying that gal deserves a break on her beauty? well, that's ok I guess but at least get a woman significantly more beautiful than her for wonder woman.

so, you are saying that gal deserves a break on her beauty?
IMO, it's apples to oranges, and the attraction seems to be generational. Older folks that saw the show seem to favor Lynda, while younger ones seem to like Galdot. As I mentioned, I'm not a target audience for movies, so my opinion counts for little with movie makers.
I read your description of Lynda in another post, and you're spot-on. IMO she's even more beautiful in the 70's version of the series (as opposed to the 40's version).

you're wrong. it's not apples to oranges comparison and younger ones don't favor gal gadot. it's not a generational comparison or difference of opinion. it's a fact that Lynda carter as wonder woman was at least a star better in terms of beauty and allure and cuteness, and adorableness, and prettiness, and sexiness. what do you mean in the '40s version? she wasn't in the '40s version of wonder woman.

I'm not going to argue with you or tell you you're wrong regarding an
                    opinion
, as we each have our own. What I posted was based upon what I've read and people I've talked to in real life from both eras.
                    When I said 70's version, I meant seasons 2 and 3 of
                    Wonder Woman
. The shortened first season was
                    set in the 40's
, while seasons 2 and 3 were set in the 70's.

you're wrong about it being an opinion that gal gadot is more beautiful or just as beautiful as Lynda carter as wonder woman. it's not just an opinion that Lynda is more beautiful than gal as wonder woman. it is a fact.
perception of beauty is not always an opinion, it's not always in the "eye of the beholder." if you look at Lynda carter as wonder woman and gal gadot as wonder woman you will see and know and come to the conclusion that Lynda carter was a more beautiful woman than gal gadot as wonder woman. if beauty was always an opinion then any homely woman would be just as beautiful as a really beautiful woman.
also keep in mind that I talked to my mom about gal not being as beautiful as Lynda as wonder woman and she agreed that back in the '70s actresses were more beautiful than actresses of nowadays. she said nowadays actresses aren't as beautiful as they were back in the '50s and '60s or before then.

You may want to take the time to read the very first reply in this thread and see what I think about the subject. We agree as to who is more beautiful and made the best WW, but then you have to repeatedly insult me by telling me I'm wrong by mentioning the opinions of others for which I have personal knowledge.
You're right! You're so "right" (a/k/a close-minded) you can go find someone else to argue with, there are plenty on the Internet willing to do so. You made my ignore list.

not true at all that all they are basing their opinion on is about nostalgia. no, Lynda carter was the full embodiment of wonder woman because she was unparalleled beautiful and so glamorous, and so elegant.
also she acted so well as wonder woman. she was so skillful, resourceful, elegant acting, graceful, perfectly handled dangerous situations, was lovable with her charming, bubbly, effervescent, and noble personality and actions and all around she acted as wonder woman. so all of this proves that she is the ultimate, best, and only wonder woman.

yeah, even porn stars, it's hard to find one who is more or as beautiful as Lynda on wonder woman. and that is impressive and amazing.

This. Gadot is breath-takingly beautiful - and looks great in the costume IMO - but I grew up watching Carter's Wonder Woman (she helped make my formative years extremely enjoyable) and she was/is a real goddess!

exactly Lynda is the real goddess in this competition. it's so amazing how as magically and stunningly and exotically and inhumanly rarely and other worldly beautiful and alluring that gal gadot is as wonder woman, she's not as beautiful as Lynda as wonder woman. Lynda is a star above gal when it comes to beauty, cuteness, adorableness, prettiness, alluringness, and over all attractiveness and also sexiness.
in a scene in batman v.s superman gal has kind of a common, movie actress average look to her face. so, that means that she is not a ground breaking or never seen before beauty, she isn't that beautiful. whereas Lynda as wonder woman was always ground breaking and never seen before beautiful and she was also always heart stoppingly and overwhelmingly beautiful and also she was so exquisitely beautiful and so painfully beautiful and painfully adorable.

I'm willing to give Gal a chance, providing the script is good and Wonder Woman (the movie) doesn't turn into Catwoman (the movie).
Nobody can compare with Lynda Carter, definitely one of the all-time perfect casting choices.

Looks wise, I think Lynda is much more attractive. Gadot has that anorexic look that I never liked. I'll wait until the WW movie comes out next year before I judge whose performance is better.

isnt' that interesting? why on earth did they cast an anorexic girl as wonder woman? I mean wonder woman is supposed to be incredibly strong and muscular. not scrawny, anorexic and model like. what in the world were they thinking?
