One of the best Stephen King adaptations! It might even be THE best, but then I think of Dolores Claiborne which is brilliant and I'm ambivalent.

Absolutely! I'm not a King fan in the least. Not even remotely. However, I couldn't put
      Carrie
down, and read it, read it, and read it again! That story had me gripped. The only other book of his that had me interested was
      Gerald's Game
. Still, nothing came close to
      Carrie
      .
      I never read the book
      Dolores Clairborne
, but heaven help me, that movie was brutal to watch. The acting was out of this world. I think I stopped breathing so many times, especially that scene. I felt myself completely involved and believing in the characters. Bates was made for that role!

Read the book. It's even better than the movie.

                        Yes! Christopher Walken was great!
Actually there have been more. - What about Misery? Stand By Me? Even The Shawshank Redemption is from a SK short story. Not all of his stories have had justice done to them, but enough to be satisfying to the SK aficionado. Even 'Christine' might be worthy of praise. I love that damned Plymouth Fury.

Oooh, all excellent choices! I forgot about Christine. It would make anyone want to have sex with a car! And Misery. But Misery was a hit due to Bates, in my opinion.

I cannot watch that movie. I watched it once and never again. It was the "dry sponge" part, the intentional cruelty and sadistic nature. There was a lot to take in in that whole movie that was appalling. Nope. I can never watch it again. Nossiree!

I have trouble with Pet Semetary. The little boy getting hit by the truck is something I have a hard time with.

Pet Semetary is another one I have a difficult time watching. But for me, it's mostly because of the animals.
Dang, I forgot just how many movies that I like are actually adaptations of king novels. The list you made reminded me of how little I know/remember about his writing. I've only read a few of his books. Carrie was the first book of his that I read.

Didn't really care for this. All 70s horror movies come off looking cheesy by modern standards. Can't think of a single exception.
Flawless victory. Another one for the good guys.

I'm not that keen on modern standards of horror. Lacking something and I'm not sure what. Credible characters? A bit of depth? Maybe I expect too much.
