"Marty" is about a guy who is single and ugly, and finally finds another girl who is "ugly"… Of course, Betsy Blair is pretty, but Hollywood has to put someone pretty to sell tickets.

Carrie (Sissy Spacek) was plain-looking, she was neither pretty nor "ugly".

She was made up to downplay her attractiveness. (I think she's very pretty). But it's not just looks, it's attitude and behaviour. She was insecure, scared, shy, abused, tormented,…all those things essentially paint a target on her back for bullies to hone in on. She was fragile and weak, and bullies like nothing better than someone who is naïve, weak, sheltered and isolated to attack.

Your OP would make sense if you were referring to Chloe Moretz Grace's version. But Sissy Spacek did fit that part, and was believable in that role.

                      ½ S/N Asian (40%+ Chinese) ½ Norwegian/Danish-Irish Swiss (Amish/PA) German French Dutch? French+Dutch Celtic-Irish English-Irish? 🇮🇹..?
