Anyone else think Norma should have had a more painful death?

Norma was a spiteful and nasty little brat and the hose scene death was more hilarious than anything and not at all that fitting. The build up to the blood dump was excellent and Spacek's creepy acting was top class with her reactions and look. However, I thought that much of the prom destruction scene was pretty weak. The spilt screen helped to mask it's flaws. Chris and Billy's death scene was pretty laughable too.
The 02 t.v remake has an excellent prom sequence and prom destruction scene
I like the Tommy Ross character here the best of all 3 versions
and the 13' remake didn't have as good as build up to the blood dump
an appalling performance of the Miss Desjardin character was the main weak spot
but the prom destruction was pretty good, with an extended and more than suitable pay off for Chris and Billy's demise.

Of course, the actress who played her had her eardrum busted, and had to go to the hospital because of that scene
She should had sued. But Norma dying is not enough, she needed to be impaled ? (I suppose you mean in a cinema-sense) -

At the risk of sounding sadistic, yes, it would have been a better payoff if Norman had been impaled on something, rather than just get soaked by a power hose that took on the appearance of a big white snake, like something out of Sinbad. It looked cheesy.

I agree. When you think about it Ms Collins who was the nicest to Carrie had the worst death being sliced in half! Well, Mrs. White actually had the worst death being impaled. But yeah Norma got off easy.

I kind of wished that Norma would have been the Rhonda Simard of the book and got electrocuted and set on fire. That's my only disappointment with the Prom scene. But, at the end of the day, dead is dead I suppose, so if it has to be via a broken neck from a fire hose it's better than her surviving and getting away with her behaviour.
She was just a follower anyway. Doing whatever would keep her in favour with Chris. Left to her own devices I don't think she would have really bothered Carrie and neither would half the other girls. They just wanted to be in Chris's group. Teenagers trying to fit in and be popular.

So you're saying PJ Soles was nasty enough on her own that she deserved the eardrum puncturing during filming? I don't know anything about that, but I was referring to the character of Norma lol.

I agree with the OP, she deserved a worse death.. I don't know why, maybe because she reminds me of a nasty biotch I used to work with, but in some ways her character irritated me more than Chris.. always wearing that dumb hat everywhere, even to the prom.. and putting it on top of that hair dryer?? Who does that??? But, it did suck that PJ Soles got hurt.. she did play Norma very well. Also, Norma was such a Chris Wannabe
