You can have it right here:
https://www.imdforums.com
The categories for Directors, Actors, Screenwriters and Composers are ready and we are awaiting more user registrations.
This is a REAL forum, not reddit style, it's more like an IMDb on steroids with more features.
You're more than welcome to register and start enjoying those sections all to yourselves

I checked out the following two boards.
I like the feel and the members of
https://www.imdforums.com
.
I'm slightly disenchanted with
http://imdb2.freeforums.net/
.

I checked out your forums but the problem is that there really isn't a home for film professionals to discuss their craft with other professionals, whether writers, directors, actors or crew. You have lumped us in with fans by calling it Star Talk, rather than Shop Talk. It's not that we don't want to associate with fans, but all threads will be from fans going ga-ga on certain hot actors, or dissing certain directors. We want a home for pros (or those who want to be pros.)
I am sure you can find us an appropriate home, and come up with a better name than Shop Talk. It is great the fans have their forums but we want to talk about the CRAFT, not reading feedback from fans on who needs to lose 10 pounds or what Beyonce was wearing at the Grammys.
As for imdb2, it looks like they changed their format from the cut-and-paste they stole from IMDB - probably because they would have gotten sued (and I was right) - but they are not exactly "free" forums. They will increase the advertising, and keep trying to sell subscriptions for an ad-free forum.
If I see one more website full of those click-bait pictures at the bottom, I will scream. -

My whole point in why I created my forums with licensed software hosted on a powerful server.
Ample margin to grow and total control of the software.

I second that request. I would like a section on your forum for professionals or future professionals to discuss their craft; separate from any "fan" type threads.
I think we can throw some quick ideas around for naming them. Personally, I am not a big fan of IMDB's term "shop talk," but it does get the point across that these are not fan pages to talk about writers, directors, actors and actresses, it is for people who ARE, or want to BECOME, writers, directors, actors and actresses.
Plus, I would like to see tighter moderation, meaning the person who is there to insult others, dox other users or just ask stupid and inane questions gets booted off the professional boards quickly.
I nominate FT for moderator on the professional boards. He is the most patient person I ever met, but is not afraid to call beep on spammers and losers. -

YOU CAN.
The simplest method is, you register on our forums, you make a request in Suggestions and we add the forum.
https://www.imdforums.com/forums/suggestions-feedback.57/
About the tighter moderation. I don't know the other forums but we have have 3 moderators and a very clear RULES set for anyone that cares to join.
We won't accept trolling or attacking, you can read the whole rules in the link Rules right on the forum menu.

This also gets my vote. Much tighter moderation on a new site would certainly tempt me to consider posting again.
Again, I agree with regards to FT being an excellent choice as a moderator. He's professional, very fair minded, knows the industry and his subject(s) implicitly, is incredibly patient yet doesn't take any BS.
On a side note: I'm only sorry that you and I haven't had to opportunity to connect elsewhere John-PaulJones. FT is a mutual friend of ours. He's an absolute peach.
RIP MUM 31/05/2015.

Aww, thank you my friends. I already moderate one of the most active forums on the net, so I don't really have too much spare time. But nearly 30 years in this business may be enough, so I might be looking for things to do in the future.
As for my friend John-Paul, it's nothing to do with you. He knows about you and respects you a LOT, but he doesn't let anyone know who he is.
He once privately shared his real identity with a few "trusted" people from IMDB, and he suddenly got 30 really really BAD scripts in his mail over the next two years. He just threw them away because he NEVER opens anything unless it is from a trusted agent or from a fellow industry professional.
One of the IMDB writers forum members then tried to sue him for "stealing" an idea. His was a supernatural thriller taking place on board a submarine, and the so-called writer had a supernatural thriller set in space. The only common elements were the cows and the first names of one of the characters. This is why he NEVER tells anyone who he is anymore.
One of these days his project "The Thetis Clip" may come together, and it is cool that it started right here on IMDB forums. -

IMDForums added the "Shop Talk / Film Creation" forum with the boards
https://www.imdforums.com/forums/directors.203/
https://www.imdforums.com/forums/actors.204/
https://www.imdforums.com/forums/writers.205/
https://www.imdforums.com/forums/crew.206/
The forum "Shop Talk / Film Creation" sits between "Star Talk" and "TV".
I hope some of you will find a home there. I liked to lurk in your boards to learn about the problems professional film creators had to solve, and to get informations about the day-to-day work of film professionals.
