PS But how did they get into the well? If they fell, they would have been seriously injured or killed. And how could they have climbed down since most of the hand holds were gone? And I know they're crazy, but why would they do it?

If that guy was able to climb up and out of the well using those rickety steel rungs, it's logical that both of them got down into the well the same way. -

Yeah, I guess so. But the bottom rungs were missing, and they would have to drop down the last 10 feet or so. I would think that would have caused some serious injuries. But as Erica said, I guess I need to suspend disbelief, and just enjoy it, which I did.
