I'm not even sure if this is the right board for this question, but what are some nice artsy films that have unique twists on cinematography and stuff like that?
I just watched Tree of Life (2011) and please don't lynch me for it, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. What are some other similar movies? Or even movies that would change my perspective on something (I live in a small town where you have to drive 90 minutes to see a wide released movie, so I don't know that many small released movies) -

Not all are my cup of tea, but are similar in ways to Tree of Life and have unique twists on cinematography/editing.

Big fish and Moonrise Kingdom are unique in the cinematography department. I wasn't a huge fan of either of them (I don't really like surrealistic looking cinematography) but it still was beautiful Prisoners and winters bone are two movies I love with darker cinematography (not really what you asked though lol)

Aesthetically, try Enter The Void.
If you haven't seen 2001: A Space Odyssey yet, see that as well.
The New World (also by Malick - director of Tree of Life) is also visually beautiful with amazing cinematography. Actually, just see all of his films. He's great.
Soy Cuba is amazing too.

Under the Skin (2013) Not fantastically entertaining, but interesting in terms of the look and mood it was trying to achieve; it was meant to show the human race from the perspective of a visiting alien.
The Double (2013), about a man dealing with his doppelgänger, had a unique look to it.
Brazil (1985) was pretty much driven by its cinematography and set design

The Money Movie is an interesting movie. Basically a guy finds that he has a natural talent for the game and eventually decides to compete at an Underground poker club. but it leaves him questioning his career, his friendships, and his life at home. Terrence malick is a writer and director that made tree of life. His movies are excellent. Here are a few that I can remember off the top of my head. To the order, Knight of the cups, The new world, The thin red line. Also check out these movies- Drive, Blue valentine, The place beyond the pines, Black swan. Enjoy!

Just watched Embrace of the Serpent and was blown away by the beauty of the cinematography as well as the fantastically written story. Based on actual events, it is truly one of the best movies I have seen and fits what you may be looking for
