I was good and I saw it then and haven't rewatched many times.
As a kid I was in the twin towers before they were both completed and remember thinking the poster was cool.
The one thing I don't get about King Kong is WHAT IS IT ABOUT?!
The original writer didn't have any real theme when creating it. He learned about a giant ape skeleton from an extinct ape and wrote the story.
Meanwhile, it's about something that never happens which is a gorilla falls in love, or something, with a human. On top of that, the ape is super giant and the human tiny.
      What….
      It's a really weird idea.
Also, it has a LOT of longevity and the Kong idea continues.
You should watch the original from the 30s.
It must have blown minds with the special effects.

I liked it. It was lighter and less intense than the other versions.

Did you know they built a really large mechanical robot for the movie that took up half the budget, yet it was only used in one scene I think, in far-away shots.
Millions of dollars for this carnival wide-shot:
Scenes like this is an actor in a suit:

I searched to see if the King Kong suit was used for the gorilla in Trading Places but there's nothing. Even the roar is the same.

Well the roar wouldn't have anything to do with the suit.
What's funny about this scene though, is they had to get a character wearing a laughably fake-looking gorilla suit to contrast the other so that it looks more realistic by comparison.
              Never lose your desire.

7/10. Starts well and the John Barry score is magnificent. However, some of the deliberately campy humor falls flat and the special effects run hot and cold throughout.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

                  It’s my favorite Kong version.
