    This is one of those things from childhood I never understood. Not even now as an adult.
    What was the hot water bottle, hugging the piano leg, zoom-in on the water leaking supposed to imply? Was that urine or water from the water bottle?

          It wasn't a water bottle. It was a enema bag. The mother was filling it with cold water and inserting the tip of it into Sybil's bladder as a form of punishment/torture. When the child couldn't hold the fluid any longer the child urinated it out onto the floor, that's what you see on the floor. It is a form a torture to make someone hold their bladder when it is busting with fluid/urine.

            One of the most disturbing scenes in movie history. We all got hints about what the woman did to her and it came out at the end. I would have hated to play Hattie.
