Eve Plumb originally agreed to do the pilot plus five of the episodes. The network wanted her to do a 13 episode 5 year contract. But her father, Neely Plumb, wanted her to have little involvement. So, as a result, she was replaced by Geri Reischl.

When the first show went off the air, Eve Plumb had had her fill of the Bradys and did everything she could to distance herself from the show and the role of Jan Brady. And one of her smartest career moves EVER was refusing to appear in this drek which was a bad idea from jump.

It's funny how she wanted to 'go places' with her career but then wound up appearing in "The Brady Brides," "A Very Brady Christmas," and "The Bradys." Great job distancing yourself!

Yes, Eve Plumb declined to participate in "The Brady Bunch Variety Hour" but was in other Brady sequels. Why? Because it is all about the moment. She probably made that decision based on how she felt in 1976. "The Brady Girls Get Married" was in 1981. Five years is a long time for a young person. She was eighteen years old in 1976.
I heard she passed on the variety show because she was filming "Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway". It was probably because she would not commit to a five year option for additional shows. Geri Reischl was amazing as "Fake Jan". I knew she was not a real Brady because she could really sing. Reischl is very cool about being Fake Jan and totally owns it. It is her facebook handle. She's a real groovy chick.
What kind of reviews did Eve get for "Dawn: Portrait of a Teenage Runaway"? I thought she looked hot in those skimpy hooker outfits. The producers of "The Brady Bunch" wouldn't even let the girls wear tank tops. She was only 5'2" with a nice little figure. But turning tricks was not groovy. And she became furious when the tricks raved about Marcia, Marcia, Marcia. I kept waiting for Mike Brady to straighten out her pimp with one of his horrible lectures.
The other Brady kids seem content to make a living making appearances and talking about the show. Eve seemed to strive for more. That is her prerogative. But she took it too far when she came across as bitter on "The Jenny Jones Show" It was a talk show. What did she think people were going to ask her about? She should have been much more pleasant. She was getting paid. Please click on -

I've heard the Eve actually started crying when she saw the Brady Bunch Variety Hour and it was because she was not up there with her former cast members. Or maybe she cried because the Variety Hour was so bad!
