Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — The Brady Bunch Variety Hour

I can't believe they released this thing on DVD. I'm STILL trying to recover from the trauma from having seen this as a small child back in the 70's (and keep in mind I actually liked the original "Brady Bunch"). I mean it was an even worse variety show than "The Captain and Tenille"
On the other hand, this show did form the basis of a hilarious "Simpson" episode, where the Simpson's have a variety show which "Lisa" refuses to appear on (a la Eve Plumb), so they replace her with a perky teen bimbo cheerleader. I would definitely recommend seeing that, but if you value your sanity you DO NO want to see this!

This show is perfectly horrible! Number 4 of televisions worst shows of all time. "The Brady Bunch Hour" killed the variety/comedy shows of the 1970's.
And yes, as you mentioned, it gave us the legendary "Fake Jan".
"The most important thing is being sincere, even if you have to fake it."

The "fake Jan" totally made this. I love those stoopid '70s.

actually nobody really wanted to do the show except robert reed. chris left show business and ann davis I think joined a religious order, barry was doing broadway plays.and you're right this is worst than the captain and tenille show which is an major feat in itself.

Which is odd, if true. From what I gather, he was a dramatic actor, and thought the actual Brady Bunch show was rather silly. Don't know why he'd be up for performing an even sillier variety show.
Son, you got a panty on your head.
