Wow! I mean.wowI mean.
I'm speechless!
I heard this show was BAD but I had no idea HOW bad until I saw the skit with them all dressed as clowns diving in a pool. WTF?! That was just ASTOUNDINGLY BAD!

My theory about that one is they shot something that actually had linear content, but it didn't "work," so they just cut it up and attached some goofy music to it to fill a couple minutes of screentime.
The 70's were an interesting time. I'm very confident that everyone involved in this show was looped up on cocaine and very confident that anything that they foisted upon the american public would be swallowed unquestioningly.

I have always heard that this was Sherwood Schartze revenge on the cast. THe Brady Bunch was cancelled after higher demands from the BRady kids & Robert Reed. After a few years of ' no work' Sherwood devised a plan to get back.
He called the cast and told them if they would want to do the show again. Of course all the cast signed on imediatly ; except of course Eve Plum. They HAD NO IDEA what Sherwood had in mind.
I heard the show was intentionaly written VERY BADLY to publicly humiliate the entire cast in front of the world. -

I have heard the sane thing, Schwartz was angry ABC canceled the show Schwartz felt that the cast lack of effort especially Reed and Plumb was the reason the show was canceled. In reality it was the poor writing and scripts, Schwartz tried to get revenge against some of the cast.

Well, that theory would make sense except for the fact that the series had nothing to do with Schwartz. They gave him producer credit since he created the characters, but the show was created by Sid & Marty Kroft. The appearance of the Brady actors appearing as their characters on the Sid & Marty Kroft produced Donnie & Marie show lead to high ratings and general positive reactions, hence the Brady Bunch Hour was born.
