I just finished reading the synopsis for the mini-series and it strikes me that there similarities to Lost. Think about it for a minute. Airline passengers stranded in the middle of the ocean encounter strange and wonderful people from different times where all is not as it should be and mysteries and danger await them.

Actually, it was more like Gilligan's Island at first, as a shipwreck strands a group of people on an uncharted island. But a smaller subgroup enters a strange cloud, making the show more similar to Stargate or Sliders, as they pass from one "time-zone" to another, meeting various societies and individuals.
Several of these individuals permanently join the group; first Varian (Jared Martin), a man from the year 2230, then Lianna (Katie Saylor), who has odd parentage - whose father was from the ancient continent of Atlantis - and whose mother was an alien, then later Dr. Jonathan Willoway (Roddy McDowall) from the 1960's.
The show only lasted ten episodes - mainly due to the poor handling of the idiots at NBC - constantly moving the show around, and pre-emoting it several times with TV specials. I was a fan of the show, but had a hard time trying to keep up with it. I thought it had been cancelled a couple of times before it actually was. -

Fantastic Journey was NOTHING like Lost.
The titles alone say how you feel after watching. Fantastic Journey leaves you thinking the show was fantastic.
Lost leaves you completely lost as to what you just watched.
