So the guns were obviously smuggled into the city. They have been having this problem since like 2013. Police confiscated ghost guns.
That wouldn't happen unless there were strict gun laws.
In contrast Texas has shootings on a daily basis. It's terrible.

i dont kno of any gun laws that do much for mass shooters..or really could…besides the ones that are really in place in every US city…those being its illegal to fire one in city limits and shooting muthafuckers always be illegal.

I'm just curious as to how people got shot when guns are illegal in NYC
And, if people are walking about and shooting strangers for no reason - wouldn't having a gun help stop that?

Who's trying to debate that? I'm merely stating the fact that the most simple laws we have and have basically always had addresses your concerns…firing a gun in city limits has always been illegal as is hitting a person with the projectile.
To have the conversation about guns in NYC would be to engage in the topic you want to avoid. I will only say that by no means are guns illegal in NYC. Heavily regulated especially where concealed permissions and registration go…but not against the law to own.
Did a **** load of guns bring peace to the wild west? Or did towns institute laws requiring the relinquishment of fire arms upon arrival to a town? I guess what I mean is I doubt throwing more guns at the situation is the answer…but I've been wrong before and probably will be again someday…no biggie -

So it would seem like banning guns isn't the solution and keeping them is keeping the problem going.
It's not something I have to think about much here in the UK. But I do think if guns were a thing here the violence would be much worse.

So in your little corner of the world…when sitting in public people watching you never keep a mental catalog of all the dubious characters in you surroundings that could potentially mass shoot up the joint?

Drinking cans can get turned to knives in seconds, glass things… well - you know, ashtrays are bludgeons, steps opportunities, even a pen of a pencil can buy an out if used properly.
But against a gun. No chance
I've had guns on me before, talk is all you have and thankfully it has always worked (So far).
I'm not sure if everyone had a gun though that things would be better. A level temperament and maturity is required to use them properly and I certainly don't think I have either of those
I don't know what the solution to all of this will be by man's hand alone. But I hope we get to it sooner, rather than later, as there shouldn't be people killed when they don't have to be

We all know what went down and who did it. Steps need to be taken to reform this culture of violence. Treating them as favored pets who do not need to work or contribute to society has not worked. ALL of society must have expectations to meet, no excuses accepted. The ones who refuse need long sentences and no bond.
