According to Wikipedia, it was mostly filmed at Petty Harbour Newfoundland.

Correct. I live about 15 mins away from Petty Harbour and it is a very quaint little village that hasn't changed much over the years. Beautiful place that also has some great fish'n'chips at a local restaurant. Lol
